jaimo693 - what engine do you intend to fit in this as baz has a good point about the axles ratios - you dont want to go to the hassle of doing the conversion only to find you cant get a suitable ratio for the axle you have chosen  :D

Hi Luke:

Probably going with a V6. But in contact with a garage called Burnham Autos at the moment and talking about V8. Prefer to do the V6 as I know these back to front and also have the engine mounts from an MK11 Ambulance which will sit the motor nice and low which is good for the cornering. I also have an LSD diff from the ambulance and the ratios have already been changed, but its not as good as a Jag axle :)

I had a Bedford CF1 years ago with a Jag axle and V8 and the ride quality and handling is much better. Not only that, but when travelling in Europe on the motorways, having a twin wheeler you get charged double at the tolls!! So having the Jag axle with one FAT wheel instead of two seams good and can do much more with getting nice wheels.

Leaning towards Jag axles at the moment, just got to find some :D Not sure on Engine, V6 if poss.

Cheers

James

HI
The Range Rover conversions were PROBABLY done (originally)to make them useable as fire tenders.
So try a fire engine maker/builder...Chubb used to do builds but I don't know if they still do.
Go to your local small airfield they probably have a 6 wheel RR, the idea obviously was they can carry the extra weight (of water) & go cross country to get to the burning whatever.

this may seem stupid but what about using indespension type units for the second axle or a beam trailer axle you can get them made to any width you want the only thing is the pcd so you will probably have to use spacer adaptors or possibly redrill as for using a jag axle they were very popular in the 70s for street rods so try investigating a few rod sites
ps i once saw a three axle landrover with a sodding great recoiless gun mounted on it down at southampton docks

I've got a Mk2 LWB transit, but can't get into photobucket at the moment. I did post a pic of it, it was way back in member's vans.

Here you go, it's stretched but has only one rear axle.

Very nice Van FredTransit!

Ok, so it looks as though its going to be another transit axle! Move the leafs springs apart or inwards on one of the axles. Cut the back end of another transit and attach it behind the existing arch so it will look like this :)

Anyone see any further problems with doing it this way? ......Ok, who wants to give me a hand then
