They do a triple horn set with 16 diferent settings one of which is dee dah style, they state only 24volt but my mate with the toyota spaceship has been running em on 12v for a while without any problems.

I know its wasnt addressed to me, but its a simple matter of wiring in a relay to the air horn power circuit so the horns sound alternately.

How's that work MRs? Do you need two compressors?

air horns

Postby MRspivvy » Thu Dec 29, 2005 2:41 pm

no, you only need the one air supply. the horn operates by a solenoid opening a valve to let the air through, one solenoid on each horn. the relay alternates the power supply to each solenoid, so they sound in sequence. I had this set up on a scania 113 many years ago, CDC or someone similar should be able to sell you the appropriate electronics.

24v only. This is a three horn set made to imitate an American freight train whistle. It is installed with a seperate switch which can be used to change the sound. NOW ONLY £45.00

Thanks MVM, it doesn't mention a compressor, so I suppose I would have to get one seperately. There doesn't seem to be any on the CDC site, but I would think a 12v would be easy enough to get.

There designed to work off a trucks air supply but will work ok from a standard air horn compressor as long as the compressor and horns are powered at the same time.
