well i definatly wouldnt leave them as they are they could quite easly come loose with the force of the brake acting on them :!: just imagine the damage to the brakes that a loose stud could do

welding them is an option but what are you gonna use :?:

i looked at doing exactly what you have done to fit the alloys on mine and didnt consider it safe - i felt the best way was to convert to disks :!:

what differnce does it make what material the drums are? they wouldnt be welded in to the drums they would need to be welded on to the rear hub

post some pics when you can - i'm all for mods like these but it's best when they are done safely and some times its good for someone else to look over them as they might spot somethiing you have missed :D

on your hubs if they are circular - unlike my mk1 ones why not drill and tap 5 new holes at 160 pcd and put some studs in - that way they wont go through because of the shank of the stud and wont come out because of the wheel  perfectly safe :D

thats not a bad idea ill take some pics of what i have done tommorow and post them up i spoke to my dad who is a metaloligist in a foundary he said they are most probably cast or forged steel not mild steel and yes i would like a second opinion as like you say you may spot something i may have missed

here you go luke the pics as promised you can make out what i have done in the pics ive decided that im going to use original length studs in the original holes then put nuts on them to hold them on as the back of my wheels will clear them
