i agree with you there i had a durotorque in a (dare i say it) 54 reg ldv convoy i bought it cheap £750 after a month the thing started blowing horendous amounts of smoke without notice totally shagged i know that they used to run the old transit engines in these vans with no trouble so power and all that shouldnt be a problem ,just a bit of fabrication here and there ,ive seen a few with rover v8s in one verry well done example recently for sale on ebay if you can get a mk6 cheap enough and youve got a rotten mk5 what have you got to lose ,if it goes wrong break the van recover your money from parts be nice to see it done good luck
if its got tits or wheels its always gonna end in trouble !!!
anyone can restore a van but it takes a real man to chop it up !!!

2.5DI in a Mk6 for sale on ebay so it has been done. Looks as if it could be tidyed up a bit better and thr speedo needs sorting.

ok so theres living proof that it can be done .certainly makes one bomb proof mk6 and if that goes as well as he says just think how it would go in a swb van certainly saves scrapping a good van just for the need of an engine im surprised theres not a lot more around the best bit buy a scrap mk5 theres plenty take out what you need then scrap it for nearly as much as youve paid for it very cheap conversion
