transitgeoff wrote:well if your gonna use the smaller pads what was the point of fitting the larger discs?? you will still have the same braking area :? just fit the proper 190 pads
you will have the same braking area but you will get more force due to the increased radius

but thats not why im doing it, i wont be fitting transit discs, the only sizes i can get to suit my requirements are 270mm but the disk depth isnt as much as the transit............. but i may get away with it if i can fit the smaller pads to the larger calipers :D

so do they fit :?:

they will do, But if your not running oe disks i'd just retain the complete stock caliper and carrier and make up a bracket to sit between the knuckle and the caliper?

are you planning on having the disk fitted to the front of the hub? if so there are a few audi disks that have a decent depth and decent size too (anything from 280-320mm are available from a6/a8 models)

whys that :?:

yes i am gonna have a go at that (disks on front) the disks ive found are mercedes vaneo - 270mm dia 112pcd and 22mm thickness - 2mm thinner than the transit ones
a lot of the audi ones have too big an offset for me normally they would be fine but i ned to get mine very narrow -70mm - i almost bought a pair of disks this morning but i need to check the caliper doesnt foul on the wheel in the position it sits in :D

well i plan to mount the disk infront of hub, so i require deeper disk to reach caliper lugs again

just had a bit of bad luck with mine - the wheel wont go far enough in with a transit caliper on :x so looks like im gonna have to swap calipers - or mount the transit one further in :D

u mean the wheel hits the caliper?

how much space u need, mounting the disk up front and using a deeper disk would give u more room?

yeah i think im gonna have to go with a deeper dish - mabe even bigger dia to get the caliper back - havent took any accurate measurments - just offered it up - wouldnt fit - packed up and came home

would be nice if i could make a flat plate mounting bracket to move the caliper back the width of the origanal monting lug - make life easier

took a few measurements today and mounting the caliper back in line with the lug will bring it back 27mm - but it makes it 30mm wider which means i need 60mm wider disks ..................... 315mm which is

Mercedes Benz CL CLASS (C215) CL600, CL55 AMG
Mercedes Benz S CLASS (W220) S600, S55 AMG

REAR disks  - im not sure about using rear disks on the front -are they made to withstand the same force as front ones :? i'd imagine they have pritty big calipers on them as standard tho :D

havebu looked at the audi options ?

few disks around 320mm on various depths

a8 and a6 are likely best candidates...

what offset do u need?

i havent looked much at audi - im not 100% sure which have 112 pcd - at least with the mercs they are all 112!

aslo the thickness needs to be 24 or less :!:

and i dont know the offset reqd yet i havent worked than out :)

just checked the audi a8 and a6 they are all too thick :( 25mm and 30mm :x

if they were used the transit caliper would have to be swapped

well swapping caliper isn't really a biggie, just mk up a couple of adaptors to sit between caliper & hub
