just to update this - the axle has now run 2000 miles trouble free - bigger bias valve did the trick :D

only problem is i've ruined the diff so ive decided to fit a non transit LSD axle

so ............. if anyones interested the axle and accosiated disk brake conversion parts are now (well as soon as i fit the next axle) for sale :!: :!:

yes you can get them for mk3 that should just fit strait in :D but i just fancied another axle the 9.75" i'm fitting is supposedly good for 600bhp so whatever i do to the van i dont need to worry about the axle 8)

i'm bitten by this drag racing bug  - and once i get the twin turbos on i sould be able to make decent times 8)

It would be nice to put discs on a MK5 6 stud Twin wheeler! Got an axle to play with here!

Luke, did you press fit your discs over new studs with a longer non-threaded section or just keep them in place with the wheel nuts / wheel?

Just that I was reading up on a front disc conversion for an Econoline and from what I understand they supply new studs and advise press fitting the studs into the new disc and the hub. Makes changing the discs a bit of a bugger?

U know if Mk7 twin wheeler chassis cab rear brake discs have the 10 bolt hole fitting that bolts to the back of the hub or do they slip over the front of the hub with 6 holes over the studs?
My Mk5 was biodegradable and disintegrated with time.

just kept them in place with the wheel nuts / wheel :D with the merc disk i used it's not necessary to centre the disk with the studs as it uses the hub to centre it :D

I scavenged a rear stabiliser bar off a 190 hi-top this evening have to say that welding is a lot better than what I saw on the factory axle. Is that smoothrite metalic paint?

All you are missing is the T5 box now? :D

Hi Luke
If your going to change the rear axle for a lsd
with discs i have fitted a trans am rear axle
from a 1999 with 3.2 ratio lsd & large vented
discs & handbrake in disc.
I am using xjs front brakes & have had no
trouble with the compatability between the
two.
Also the pcd is the same on both.
I must say i admire you for your dedication
determination & hard work you have put into
the convertion good luck in your future efforts.
