just dropped the box and i think i have the wrong clutch - bought it as a 2.0 but i think its a 2.5

that would explain why i needed to get the adpaterplate machined down

any VW experts? i wouldnt mind knowing the answer to these q's

are 2.0 and 1.9 tdi cranks the same length?
is the flywheel bolt patten on the 2.5 and the 1.9/2.0 the same?
is the release cylinder the same on the 2.5 gearbox and the 2.0

not really sure how to progress this - i'll see it i can get it swapped for a 2.0 or see if i can fit the 2.5 release cylinder/bearing

well found out its the same part number for the 2.5 and 2.0 cylinder/release bearing - so that shouldn't be the issue :?

just had the clutch off can't see anything wrong :? there's about 10 deg rotation in the duel mass flywheel but i think thats normal

havent took the flywheel off yet - still can't understand why i needed to mill the adapter plate down :? :? wondering if it's that flexing as i dont have the sump part to support it

i am now thinking the gearbox i have been supplied might be a bad one

i thought i'd have a closer look at the release bearing - it feels good and smooth - the noise is really loud so i dont think its the problem

what makes me think the box is bad is the pinion nut is missing off the rear flange :? and there has been a few loose bolts on it as i was installing it

there was a drip of oil from the input shaft (the bellhousing was covered in oil when i split it)

when i removed the release bearing/cylinder and there is no seal behind it - i can't see where one would fit not sure if this is this normal but i can't see how it would seal otherwise :?

not sure if they are the same internally but externally they look different :|

tbh if i got one that worked ok i can't see it having much of a hard life in this - never going to carry much weight of do that many miles
