bit more progress

the gearbox hasn't been picked up yet but it's booked for monday :D

decided to fit the pas box now as i'm going to need something for the pas pump to pump to - not a massive job as ive had it fitted before but removed it as the old V4 didn't have as pas pump so all the mountings are there

I have it all in place now but i haven't got a reservoir as the transit one is different and the passat one is an odd shape

pas box.JPG

the problem is the inlet pipe i made wont fit - so i'm going to have to re-do it all and while i'm at it the intake from the air filter was noisy so i might see if i can fit a standard air box to quieten it down

i've done quite a few engine conversions before but i think this is the most squashed in one ive ever done - takes me back to working on my mini

decided to get another intake so got a Seat Alhambra one to try :? looks better  might even get the intercooler in now

tried the passat airbox and it won't fit - no major hassle as the aftermarket one does still fit round the pas box so it won't stop me getting it on the road

the faulty gearbox was collected today - on its way back to cardiff as we speak :D

also found a pas reservoir off a sierra so going to make a bracket for that as it fits neat into a space :D

sure is pretty "compact" looking in there luke!

but if all goes to plan you wont need to spend much time under the bonnet going forward!

looking forward to see how this one turns out.

haha i like that

my new inlet manifold arrived today - fits perfect! don't know why i didnt get this type in the 1st place the intercooler will fit ok on top of the engine and ive just got to re-jig a few pipes make the odd bracket and it'll be in

this is how it should look :D not ideal - there won't be much airflow but should help a bit :D

bit more done :D

brackets for intercooler made

all fitted in place this is roughly how it should look - i've removed the vacuum reservoir from the front of the engine to create a bit more space in that area- not sure if i need it or not but i'll fit it on top of the engine if i do so it'll be easier to access

still waiting for the gearbox to come back - i need that back in to level the engine up before i finalise exact hose positions etc

all back together running and the noise is still there

i don't think it's the box even though these was definite issues with it - could do with one of those microscopic cameras to poke inside the bellhousing record how the clutch is engaging

haha siphoning in now  couldn't get the pump to pump it in so i'm having to siphon it in with a 4mm tube  at this rate it'll be touch and go if it'll be full before north weald
