What, you are supposed to use them? Now I know where I have been going wrong
Seriously though, as long as the MOT tester is happy with the brightness then they are fine to use...I have to say that since I sold them to Chadmat
I have clear indicators fitted and clear repeaters and have just yesterday swapped the orange bulbs (on the main idicators) for the silvered ones that blink orange when used, just as bright as before and I have lost the fried egg appearance, great for a fiver :D . I actually didn't want clear indicators but after finding a crack in one which meant it filled with water when raining it was cheaper to get the aftermarket ones than buy from Fords, I know ebay exists but they (stock orange lens) are basically Ford prices anyway and with 'used' you really don't know if you are getting a 'good' pair.

Never drive in America or Canada then, as 90% of all the vehicles don't have rear amber indicators, just what looks like the brake light coming on and off, I am amazed that there are not more accidents because of this, but I suppose it is what you get used to.

In the USA white light indicators have been from the start and it's never been a problem :?

I think, DJMIKE is complaining about 'smoked' indicator lens. I was making the comment about REAR indicators on US and Canadian vehicles. Though the newer super shiney silver indicators do have the effect of dissapearing in bright sunshine due in the main to the plastic being totally clear so too much of the background is reflected back out.. The Transit aftermarket ones although they are called 'clear' are really opaque, what would actually improve the aftermarket Transit ones would be the inside being silvered.

yes your right they're opaque just did'nt want to repeat the word as it was already established the term clear.

OOOERRR looks like i,ve started sumthin here ! I had the same clear lenses on which sportscott has in his pics ( nice van by the way) and the bulbs inside were also clear..so fail number one ! and again like sportscott, have fitted the clear side indicators, but in here have fitted blue bulbs ooops !! he didnt like them either ! Just been back in for its retest today with new shocks fitted, and all the original lights back in place..he was a happy biscuit !...needless to say, back home and changed back !! As for DJmike..i kinda get what you,re saying as i ride a bike as well, and on that wouldnt dream of sticking on those tiny indicators..i WANT van drivers !! to see i,m turning...but on the van..if someone cant see my clear bulbs flashing, they shoudnt be driving ! Have fun peeps !!

Point was that you were fine with the lens, you simply had the wrong lamps installed. Blue is a roadside nick, clear bulb is the same and both can mean you have to leave your van at the roadside (or even towed away at your expense) if the policeman wants to be hard arsed about it. at the least a producer with a whatever the certificate number is from an MOT station to prove you have replaced/fixed the lamp colour.
