Good job the price was right :D

Those tyres (235/85/16) won't fit in the standard MK5 arches :(

spike72 wrote:what diameater hole and how deep do you go champher
13mm dia hole and the chamfer is about 1-2mm deep depending on the thickness of the wheel as a rule go 2/3rds in - what you dont want is to go too far in and open up the 13mm hole - if you want an exact measuremnt let me know the thickness of the bit the holes will be going through :D

i've thought about these before :D as mentioned the offset can be a problem but if i was doing it i think i'd cut out a piece of steel and weld it to the back of the weller then drill through that  and also welded the old 5 holes up :) but probly a lot more work than converting to 5 stud

minormatts been looking at it too :D

because I dont want my wheels sticking several inches out from under the arches...

The 6 stud axle is only about 2" narrower than the van (not scientifically or accurately measured!) and by the time you put an adaptor plate on its going to be significantly worse. The other thing I have considered is a twin wheel axle, but its putting a load of load on the bearings so I discounted it although it may be possible on the back - front would be the same problem :s

i am thinking of doing the same
but to make it easier i was thinking of cutting the centres out of tranny wheels [5 or 6 stud] then welding them to the outside of wellar rim and just drilling the holes out
that way the wellars would be sandwiched between the hub and wheel centre's

and how about jacking up the back wheel of your tranny [with tranny wheels on]

put it in first, ticking over then bodge a jig with a cutting blade as a homespun lathe to cut the centres out
see tranny owners can think!
if you get injured , i deny posting this, [the cat was using my pc,summat to do with the mouse!]

Let's have a piccy of some landy wheels fitted to a tranny... what happens with the old holes? in a cosmetic sense?
