gone are the days where you could drive the wheels off somthing check the oil now and again and if it stops change the plugs points & condensor far too many ecus sensors to go wrong ,old school mechanics are a dying breed .nowdays they are fitters not mechanics the computer says what part to change and they fit it.
a friend of mines lad works at a local ford dealer and without a computer couldnt cure a simple fuel problem on a 3 litr capri he was totally lost
mind you 99% of the people who have passed their driving test in the last 10/15 years have never driven a rear wheel drive motor

Must say that there is one other advantage of the 2.5di conversion. It gets round the LEZ thing as the camera will assume that the van is LEZ compliant!

hey i have a mk6 pick up fitted with a di and i think its the best thing since sliced bread. as some people say it will be slower and under powererd. this may be true but its no worse than my mk5 di or any other di powerd van i have had but at the end of the day if i kill my my di al ave another for 150 quid and it will be in the van the same day. nowt wrong with em only complaint with mine is the prop is out of ballace i think. as its been made from the front of the di prop and its still got the rear of the mk6s original prop. its just been joind with weld and thats the only thing i can faulnt it on. unfortually i dint do the conversion so cart say how it was done although if your any where near scarbrougfh your more than welcome to come and ave alook amine to see whats goin on and maybe get some ideas from!!

hi i have done three vans now an all are goin well i have been putting the turbo di in them an they go just as well as a 90 bhp Duratorq the only thing i cat get workin yet is the speedo.

my clocks works but there the clocks from the doner vechile (mk5) dont look out of place eather. do you think its worth changing mine to a turbo. is the cost worth the extra power that will be gained.

i would the turbo makes a big defference the first van i did was a long wheel base hi roof an i put a non turbo di in an it was good but a bit slugish, an then i did one in a minibus an put a turbo in it and its much better an im using that daily for work now.I am now doin a transit jumbo now for my brother an thats havin a turbo di in it.

could be the route then!! i was cursin mine today had a load of scrap and a little fiesta on the back (total weaght 3.750) and goin up some hills i was thinkin could do with her turboin like you say just slugish. felt like a cossie wen i got tipped of hahah

well when i got mine done i took a ldv to scrap an theres a hill an my old mk5 with a little car like a corsa on the trailer it would be in second gear this with the turbo in went up there in 3rd gear an the wight when i got there the weight was 4890 kg an it pulls really well

has anyone done this (turbo 2.5di in a mk6) and got the speedo working ?

I'm thinking of doing one of mine.... it's 4th engine has just died

(they're well looked after.... but speed + a decent load in the back kills them pretty quick)


the old di's would get a bit tired... but at least they keep running

cant see why u would go through 4 duratorq engines! what mileage have u been doing? have u been overloading them? and i assume ur using secondhand units so they cant be very good to start with
