i might be able to help here as well, i think you will find that an early type 9 boxed transit prop will fit the A4LD box if you can find the right length prop, the splines on the back of the box i believe are the same.

yes they will if you can use a welder,

on a transit the engine mounts sit at about 45degrees, cut up the sides of the mounts almost all the way to the top, bent the surface up so its flat and weld new sides on it, now your granada mounts will do the job just fine and you'll have easy access to the bottom nut to do them up,

not sure but i guess this will work with any engine fitted to a granada that someone wants to fit in a transit

I already have the box in my van and had the prop made to fit :D So are you saying I would just need to unbolt the tourque converter from the pinto flywheel and it will mate straight up to the Cossie?? If so I will definately be looking for a Granny after Christmas :D

if you fit a 24v in a transit and want to run the auto it should fit where a 5 speed type 9 came out i think, if you got a manual box in it already you will need the torque converter and auto flywheel to convert to auto but it should be easy enough. from my own experience for only use 2 yoke sizes for the front of a prop, upto 2.0 and over 2.0, the MT75 uses a completely different front to the prop.

the beauty with ford is that they don't like to change setups that work so they make stuff to fit stuff that they already know works, best example is the bolt pattern of a 4cylinder ford, they all bolt to the same bellhousing crossflow, pinto, 1.6/1.8 diesel, cvh, zetec. they wanted multi valve engine so they just put a 16v head on an 8v engine, cosworth 2.0 is just an old cortina engine, 24v is just an old 2.9 and a zetec is just an old cvh.

Sorry I think you slightly misunderstood what I meant there.... I AM already running a A4LD in my van, I converted it earlier this year, and its currently attatched to a 2.0 Pinto, it drives lovely, changes are smooth a pretty responsive (although it did take a while to get it that way!), so what I need to know is, is the tourque converter the same for the Cossie as it is for the pinto? if so then I can just take the engine from the Granny, unbolt my tourque converter and bolt it straight to the Cossie flywheel?

Sorry for any confusion.

i don't know about the torque converters but i guess if it bolts up then it will be ok, you might want to use the oil cooler from the cosworth granada cos to hot a oil kills auto boxes.

I would definately use the oil cooler, and get some pipes made up so it still then goes through the rad too :D I suppose the best bet for the tourque converter is to buy an auto cossie and hope its ok....we'll have to see at the time.

Luke, I know there is a comapny in Sutton in Ashfield that makes exhausts, obviously it would mean getting the van to them so they could see what they need to do but they are supposed to be very good on price :D I'll get the name and number tomorrow.

i had the down pipes made by powerspeed in ashford (kent) but i thought they were a crap job, and yes they are the ones tony has, let him have the complete but modified system, with getting a fatory 2.9 i will have a system to mate to so will have down pipes made to fit.

best bet with headers is find a friend or someone that can make you some, they are a pain in a mt75't transit but thats the only real pain i found,

the other little headache is solved with a big hammer, the bulkhead needs adjusting by about an inch right by the clutch pedel, you'll see on the corner of where the bulkhead goes back a bit the head will foul if its not adjusted, when putting the engine in it looks like the coil pack will foul on the bulkhead as well but its ok once the engine is in place.

its a shame i didn't take any more photos of my vans, but didn't have a digi camera then, depending on when i pick this new van up, it may get a 24v in it before the end of the week, just happen to have a couple laying around i can grab

another idea for a transit might be the 4.0 explorer or now new mustang 4.0 as these engines are 4.0 versions of the same cologne engine.

ive already got a 2.9V6 mk3 to help with the conversion and the bulkheads gonna need a bit of modding as its a mk1 - but ive also got a full mk4 floor to weld in :D

i quite fancy twin side apperace pipes like these 8) and in stainless too 8)
