ok bare with me

transit disk is 70mm offset assuming its a front mounted!!! the merc rear 315 one is 56 mm offset and it is a front mounted one!
if i mount the transit caliper in line with the lug 27mm back this will give me........ bearing in mind i need 35mm narrowed at each side!!!

70-59 = 11 + 27 = 38mm narrowed

perfect 8) (i can fit 3mm shims if i wanted  )

now 2 problems - i'd be using a rear disk on the front - now is that ok :?

and its a merc AMG one - bet it costs £££££££££££££

I would check the 'Brake weights' chart at your local M.O.T Station, its always on display, I personally dont think they are rated anywhere near as much as front ones, dont forget manufacturers only make stuff just to withstand just over the minimum required :!:

the car they are off is a merc s class 1999-> w220 s600 saloon :!:

i had a look at one they are a big tank and 5 litre v12 or summat and on them autobahns breaking from 150mph should need good rears

cheers mate :D
are these all fronts or both? im guessing the one ive highlighted is the merc rear!
Its a pity it doesnt show the thickness but i can cross check them, i'd like to keep the transit calipers if possable.

also if a disk isnt front mounted i could mabe use that - anything similar to the way the transit one is now - just make my new hub to match! :D

this merc rear one is so perfect - im tempted to ring the manufacturers and ask them - but in this day and age they are likely to say no strait away without even considering

They are mixed front and rear, and yet that is the Merc rear one you have been looking at.

The next closest is the Audi FRONT ones...

AUDI
DSK 2017
Vented - Mountings 5
Disc diameter 314.0mm
Disc thickness 30.0mm
Overall height 59.0mm
Centre diameter 68.0mm
Minimum thickness 28.0mm

Model Year F/R/H
A8 94-98 F
A8 Quattro 94-98 F
S6 94-97 F

But The disk thickness is 30mm which I assume is way too big...

as per your PM Luke the brake weights chart wont be a lot of help to you - thats the list of vehicle weights and it's used to calculate the % of effort from the readings taken off the rollers (it's largely irrelevant these days because the computer calculates it)

anyway I had a play today with a few vehicles - transit front effort would be upwards of 600KG effort per wheel - VW transporter van - E class mercedes and VW passat all had rear readings on the footbrake around the 250KG - 260KG of effort mark per wheel

I haven't really read the whole thread ( ) but I hope it helps
