ha, was gonna say i have a spare inlet manifold if you knackered yours.
I need an o/s cast exhaust manifold as i want to make up a new exhaust system this year, i have asked on here previously but no joy so i am considering welding one up with a kit off these folk
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-3L-ESSEX ... 4e7a:g:HLc
as i have a new set of downpipes off a scimitar and a new stainless set of pipes and boxes off a landy. my o/s cast exhaust manifold has a missing lug that broke off and i had to bodge a fix that i really need to sort out this year.
Funny enough my fuel pump frapped out a few month back and i managed to get a brand new one off a capri specialists,

Thanks for the offer whitemice :D

I still need to get the exhaust system sorted out on mine as all i done was welded the downpipes (where they go from 2 to 1) to my original pinto exhaust system and really would like twin pipes right through, just got to find someone on the island who can fabricate a twin exhaust system in stainless :D .

Hi Robbie,

Have thought of that, but would like the tubes to be curved to shape over the back axle rather than lots of welding.
If I can`t find anyone to do it, might contemplate attempting it myself :D

Another quick question:
The inlet manifold is bolted on using 8 bolts, the 4 middle bolts have standard bolt heads but the 4 outer bolts have allen key heads :?: is this correct or has someone mis-matched the bolts.....

Hi,

In my head set I have 5 paper gaskets to bolt the carb to the inlet manifold, all having various differences in the centre cut outs, in the manual it says these must be replaced in the same order as the old ones that came off  I did not make a note of this, does anyone know the correct order of fitment for these 5 gaskets?

Cheers.

and the naughty blown gasket:

2nd head off:

Slowly re-assembling:

These are the 5 gaskets I now have to fit, but don`t know what order they go in.... does anyone know: also have a "diffuser" that goes in between some of these gaskets (its a thick plastic base with 2 metal v prongs to spread the fuel):

Should be carb. Paper gasket. Spacer. Thick gasket. Manifold.

Just use the one that has the best fit in regards to the openings.

Certainly makes your eyes bulge when you are leaning over the front of the van trying to lift them out and then gently replace them without dropping them onto the new head-gasket
