its 50/50 they might fit no probs - i will also do away with the raising blocks when i fit it so that should give me a bit more room!!

little update - still plodding on with this 1/2 hour a day i'll get there eventually!
these are the caliper brackets ive made!! -obviously theres 2 more identical for the other side!



and no i still haven't measured to see if they will foul the leafsprings!!

Update! it was all coming together nicely! ive got one of the calipers mounted but i realised one of the hubs has moved during machining and basically the pcd is excentric only by a slight amount but ive run the DTI over it and its out!! and its gotta be bang on!!
for those who dont know a DTI is used for measuring very small amounts ie 0.01mm
any way ive been back to the machine shop today and he is going to them again!! which is good but i need another axle and im running out of spares im gonna have to use the mk3 one im pritty sure its the same width as the mk1/2 but i will have to double check!!

Luke, i forget now which we are talking about ..... was this originally a twin or single rear wheel ?.... because the mk3 twins were about 1 1/2 to 2" narrower, and the difference is between the hubs and the leaf spring mount, so if your worried about clearance i would give the mk3 one a miss.

having said that if you need a mk3 one ... i'll sell ya one (minus the diff)

Well ive took the mk3 axle off complete! 1h20mins no gas axe or coffie break - not bad going for me

well its not!
the mk3 axles are 25mm wider than the mk2 and for this job thats too wide!!!
so............................. the mk3 axles going on the van - with standard tranny wheels/ drum brakes and most importantly a handbrake!! just for the mot, and the mk1 axle thats on the van is gonna get modified should sort it but a load of hassle i didnt want!!

p.s. out of interested a complete mk3 axle weighs 89.5 KG thats 197lbs for you baconsdozen types!!!

Hmmm, thats worth knowing! and with the new gen axle being wider, that means my wheels will sit even further out!!!! Great!!

This Differential is off of a Transit 1978 - 1986
It is in good usable condition with no whines or noises
It was being used on the transit up until the time it was removed
(NOT left outside to rust)
