roof mounted monitors

im gonna do the unthinkable.....lol


im gonna cut a 2" square hole in the headlining, and hope i can access the roof panel above, if i can, then i can bond/glue a short bracket/post about 4" long (will measure thru the hole) which i can use to mount a new backing plate im ordering from an aluminium supplier

I cut the square out to find the whole of the headlining is formed into ducting for the roof vents


in for a penny, in for a pound, i went thru that and found the roof panel


the "dropper" needs to be only 2.25" deep and 2" square so ill be down the builders merchants looking for any item to suit, ive ordered a pc of ally 5mm plate 14"x11" for the base plate

and ordered some sikaflex 255 adhesive

should i remove paint from the roof panel to key the glue to it?

how long does that stuff take to go off, i hope i havent gotta hold the bracket upto the glue for two days, my arms will ache

in this weather it will take about 24 hours to fully cure and set so you will need to get something to hold it up till its set but on the plus side it is awsome stuff ive used it loads of times and its incredably strong stuff

ive bought the "255" variant, no-one seemed to know which was best


update :- im considering 4 bolts thru the roof, dont trust glues....

well the bonding glue went awol in the post, so i spent time hand crafting a bracket

the nylok nut is held by superglue, and i shall superglue a 3/8" drive 8mm socket on the nut so i can tighten it up as the bolt comes thru the roof.

i shall bond it to the roof too.

the 5mm ally plate is all drilled ready

got the 2 angles from the local builders merchants...if i had a garage or shed id be dangerous, im restricted to the dining room table!

ive got a whine on the radio

more so on a weak station and when the headlamps are on, so im assuming its from the alternator

anyone know anything about smoothing/chokes to fit and where/how?

have you got HID's

If so do you find it worse when there on

Mines real bad and rises and falls with engine revvs, so if you find a cure let me know please
