no i didnt get it over the net i got it locally im in the engineering trade- to ovalise the ends - just squash them - depending on what you have press or vice they may need heat too :D

if you want to discuss this further lets start another thread as i want to keep this one about my conversion and ill post up pics as i go :D

dont think so - i dont think its made that way :!:

anyway started on the stainless flanges got so far all done on a pillar drill, with a hole saw - yep 'a' hole saw  was on its last legs after the last hole but it did its job

Image

just gotta grind them oval some how  and cut each one out :x

the idea with the 4 pilot holes is incase i need to reposition the studs i can - i'll only drill out the ones i need

just go to do the same again for my n/a manifold now :)

Radiator fitting :D

i must admit from reading the other threads on the 24v conversions - i think ive got the easyest MK to do it on :D - basically i started trying to fit a DOHC sierra rad with the electric fans, it wouldn't fit in so i cut out the 2 rad supports and the centre bracing off the front panel, then it went in, i had to fit all the belt and pas pump etc. back on, once i did i saw it was too low so i raised it up about 6" and it was ok :D

i then thought i wonder if i can use the granadas rad -as its slightly bigger  also has the added bonus of the temp sensor in it, so i took the cowling off the sierra one and if fitted straight on the granny one 8) that now sits about 4" off the cross member and will locate into the slam panel once ive modded it to acept the mounting holes :D all i will have to do is make 2 brackets for the btm mounts and it looks pritty good - very tight but fits

i didnt post any progress after sunday but i basically spent all day fitting and un fitting the rad to make sure it was 100% if i hadnt done this i would have ended up with the bonnet striker hitting it

this is the pic of the bottom mounts - they pick up on the front bumper mounts and the granada rad sits on them, as you can see the rad isnt perfectly central this is to do with the offset on the fans - i'll aslo need 2 top mounts but i havent made them yet :D

Image

my plan is to get it running without the fan cowl on, then fit the fans last, as the cowl may need slight modification - its very close :?

no pics but ive got the rad fitted in place today - mounts needed a bit of modding so they both look like the one on the left now  i even fitted the hoses too 8) i'm not sure on the header tank position - i did save a mk4 transit one but i cant find it - i dont want to go drilling holes then find its no good :x its all very close on the o/s with the servo being in the way too :(

also im gonna have a go at wiring in the trip/fuel computer as it doesnt need much wiring - so ive been told - the biggest problem is i need a feed from the sender so - fingers crossed tomorrow im gonna take the tank out of the granada and make a frame and fit it in the back of the van - just to get it running then possably make a tank in the origanal position with a fitting for the granada pump/sender :? just ideas at the moment

also my stainless elbows turned up today for making my turbo manifolds - just need a couple of turbos now :P
