Andy, did you bolt your seats down through the dynamat or did you cut out, im currently doing some deadening in my mk2 and am not sure what to do about the seats, p.s. roughly how thick was the dynamat extreme?

I just poked a hole through the Dynamat and screwed down the bolts :!:
That is to say, the seats were fitted on top of the Dynamat :)
The weight and the bolting down of the seats would have well squashed the Dynamat in any case, providing a very good seal :!:

Dynamat Xtreme thickness is about 1.5 to 2 mm :D

 Get some pictures up and make a thread :!: It's good to see exactly how others are tackling this not too easy job :!: :D Especially as it's not the same type of van :!:
Others would also like to see this sort of modification, as it affects all that drive our sort of vans :D (especially the one's with the Di  )

Sorry for bumping up an 'old' thread, but it is really informative and I enjoyed reading through it. I am inspired and would like to have a go on my MkIV when it arrives in April. My only concern is cost: it looks as you have put a grand's worth of Dynamat in there :!: ;)

Well it is expensive :!: But I've only put in 2 boxes pf Dynamat, one roll of "e dead's" version of dynamat, half a roll of "e deads" Techlite foam sound absorber on a roll and half a roll of Wickes roof flashing :!:

As I haven't finished yet, so can't give you the final price, but I estimate £300 to £400 :?:

This is on it's way now :!:

The good thing about this, is the fact that you can do it bit by bit, panel or door at a time, as funds allow :!: :D

Well I nearly regretted fitting it, as it was smelly for the first few days, then luckily it did fade to no smell at all :!: :D
