alternative mk5 front end

Postby trublustu » Sun May 20, 2012 11:41 am

Hi all. Does anyone know whether the mk3 bumper (no over-riders) and mk4 grille will bolt straight onto my 96 smiley.
I want to give my van a distinctive look bit can't fond any pics or tales of this kind of tweek.
Any advice or piccys would be appreciated...

The mk3 lights are smaller, so you'd have gaps beside the grille

I know the mk3 lights/grille are not compatable with mk5 parts. But the MK4 has smiley lights that's why I don't want to do pure mk3 conversion.
There's a smiley with doctored mk4 grille on here its got a "square smile" and looks quite modern...

Np mate. No one else seems to have gone this route to individualise their vans, just wondering if its possible...

I think it's a great idea 8)
The wings are different, but are they different where they meet the bumper?
Somebody who knows will see this soon enough at tell you for sure.
If it were me, I'd pick up a cheap mk3 bumper and make it fit

Nice one cptn. Shame about the bumper. Just how different are they, not scared of a bit of black and Decker action... though there is a point!
Nice van btw (the little pile of spanners is nice touch!) good to see someone else is on my wavelength, my transit mates think in daft
