dont know if this is in the right place luke but here goes

The 1991 granny the my 24ver came from had a cat

sooo

it is going in an r reg van
how will this affect the mot?
will i need to put a cat in the exhaust?

yes or it probably won't reach the emission standard

When it goes for one of these VOSA tests, wouldn't it come up as a diesel :?: (unless the log book's been changed)

And if it's been modded (which it has) isn't there any allowances as the engine is a pre '93(when cats became compulsary) :?:

very true actually Andy I forgot that - the emission standard applies to the engine build date not the vehicle build date - see "vehicles fitted with a different engine" here

You will need to prove that the engine came from a 1991 vehicle so dont lose the paperwork! If you have that then you wont need the cat and should have no problem with the emmissions :D
