Home made centre console

Postby paulthechippy » Sat Jun 23, 2012 5:04 pm

Alrighty! :D

I've been thinking about removing the front bench seat and replacing it with a single seat so I could build a centre console.

Well, I removed the bench seat a couple of weeks ago and because I can now feed longer lengths of timber into the van, I decided not to bother with a single seat, but still build a console.

I had some MDF and timber kicking around and a few hours here-and-there, here it is... 8)

Just the job! :D

It looks cool and practical, well done. 8)

What are you doing with the seat, I'm looking for a double seat?

Cheers. I solved that one with my missus by saying to her...

"Sweetheart, sorry, but you can't come in my van anymore!"
"Why not?" She replied...
"Because I've removed your seat." I said.
"Why have you removed my seat?" She asked.
"Because I don't want you coming in my van anymore." I replied.
"Oh right I see...... Darling?" She said in question.
"Yes sweetheart." I replied.
"How fond of your testicles are you?" She asked.
"Yeah yeah, I'm pretty fond of the twins." I shrieked nervously.
"So you wouldn't like them separated?" She said with a hint of authority.
"Urrrr... n-n-n-no I don't think so." Shrieking more nervously now.
"Has the penny dropped yet darling?" She asked with a smirking face.
"Not sure about the penny dropping, but I think my testicles have shot up my arse!"

Thanks.

It's paint - 1 coat of thinned primer and 2 coats of grey undercoat. I hoped the undercoat was going to be a darker grey.

The dogs danglies Sir? :D

Handbrake is no prob - allowed enough gap to operate it. Going into 2nd gear is a bit close but no prob either 8)

Thanks Mick. :D

I was going to keep the seat for when I sell the van. Sorry dude! :(

Cheers! Yes it is a bit light in colour. I hoped the paint was going to be a darker grey. It's just an oil based grey undercoat.

if you wanted move the gearstick gaiter up and undo both bolts take gearstick out and u will see 2 square rubber bushes on the stick remove both of them and refit the stick you will find you can move the stick side to side until you do the bolts up tight if you pull the stick to yourself and do up the bolts it will now miss with more clearance.. very handy for those of us with child seats on the double seats as well
