LWB TURBO J REG INTO SWB NON TURBO R REG TRANSIT

Hi Guys,

This is my first post on this site and I impressed by what ive seen so far.

My question is:-

Is it possible to fit the LWB J reg Turbo with 15" wheels, engine, gearbox and axles running gear brakes etc into my SWB R reg campervan, that has 14" wheels no power or torque no nothing!!

The turbo unit is fly by wire incase it makes any odds, I dont know what HP the engine is but is the power ECU controlled?

If all of the above is to difficult - is the engine swap alone simple enough?

Just dont say buy another van, the camper bit is worth to much to me.

Well easiest thing would be just engine and box. LWB would be 6 stud and the SWB would be 5 so the SWB wouold prob have a better diff in it

If you change the engine i would convert to a bosch manual pump and ditch the EPIC

Is the SWB a diesel. if it is use the mounts off that

Yes the SWB is a 2.5 di, and its slow.

I was also worried that the SWB prop wouldnt fit into the LWB Turbo box, havent taken bits apart yet.

Thought I would check on here first.

Looking elsewhere on this site I notice the front hubs are the split type does that mean I could fit the LWB ones to the SWB hubs to get my 15" wheels on? and maybe swap drums for the back?

Assuming there both MT75 boxes the props would fit

As for the wheels not sure on the fronts but the studs are in the half shafts not the drum

Wht not get some 15" alloys and keep the 5 studs

What diff ratios have you got

The lwb box is HD?, I am told, and the SWB is MT75 for definate.

Wanted the bigger wheels as all tyres are new.

Dont know my diff ratio but SWB will just cruise at 70mph and dies on any type of up hill, on down hills it goes easy 80.

The TD does 88mph uphill, downhill, or anywhere.

the boxes will be the same - if you have all the bits i see no reason why it wont all swap over the most difficult bit imo would be the wiring if you wanted the front crossmember complete would swap other things to think of would be rear axle and master cyl

Just dont say buy another van
