Here is another one of the parts in my latest shipment - power steering! Big thanks to Peter at The Transit Centre info@thetransitcentre.co.uk for sorting this for me, he was super helpful and a nice guy to deal with!







I will crack into this next weekend. Thanks to oldskooler's great thread here: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=47237 I know exactly what is required for this conversion, so its a fairly straightforward procedure. The hardest part was actually finding one of these units for sale, and I was a bit lucky here, and the box is very clean and feels quite tight too:)

After searching for a couple of years I have finally found the transmission I was after - a ZF 6 speed automatic. I drove down to Rotorua today to pick it up. A , a minor problem being that it still has a car attached to it







It also has an engine with a very pretty blue cam cover, I think I like this one better than the black one of the Territory engine. For those not familiar with these cars, this was a "special" built by FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) and featured a 310KW (417hp) engine with 560Nm of torque:)









Spent some time yesterday removing the engine & trans. Turns out it was fairly straightforward. After unbolting the exhaust, the gearbox nearly dropped to the ground- the gearbox mount was very much broken! Removed exhaust, driveshaft, rad, intercooler and disconnected a few hoses. Hooked a strop around the engine and plucked it out with a forklift. Turns out both engine mounts were very broken, so didn't even need to disconnect those! Anyway, here it is, fortunately nothing broken apart from the mounts









Just sold the remains of the car today, so a nice tidy deal.

Time has been scarce lately, but finally spent a few hours on the old bus this weekend. I put the engine in position, supported by blocks of wood, and after moving it many many times I finally have it in a position I am happy with. I have had to swap the sump pan for one from an earlier model Falcon (BA) which has the bowl at the front, as mine came with a rear bowl sump pan. But this did not present any real problems, my block even has the front dipstick position in the block with a bung fitted I did a check against my Mk2 (which is fitted with a Pinto 2.0) and the crankshaft centreline is 130mm LOWER on the 6 cylinder installation than the Mk2/Pinto The front axle and steering drag link will clear the sump pan on full bump compression, and the trans is fairly tight underneath, but overall it should work okay. A few pics as always. I have drawn up the trans mounts, and will get those laser cut next week, and also begin work on an engine crossmember, to which I will attach the engine mounts.

I know its an old post but i want to ask "Conrod" about the brake callipers from the LDV most the callipers i find in my country and england are for 14 inch wheel my rear axle is for double wheel 15 inch my question is are those callipers from the 14 inch LDV the same as the 15inch wheel on the Transit

The LDV calipers were from a 14" wheel, and will fit a Mk1 or Mk2 Transit. Not sure if they will fit any other models though.
