Electric Windows

Postby sharpy » Fri Jan 18, 2013 7:08 pm

Hi

I am looking to fit electric windows to my mk7 van, they have the standard winders at the moment, Is it a fairly easy job to fit if i get all the parts from a breaking transit, I dont want to cut wires just plug in and work hopefully.

I have just done this upgrade. What you need to do is find out if you have the wires in the door post. If you have your better of going on ebay and buying the job lot which is door cards, buttons, wire looms for doors and the motors. Then all you do is strip old door cards and winder mechs out remove old wiring to central locking and plug new wiring loom in and fit motors and mechs and your off.
If it was like mine I had no wires so at to add 4 wires 1 to switch live, 1 earth, 2 to other door post for switch and also live & earth.

I changed all my door cards switches etc from manual to electric, The connection in the door check has all the wires and even the fuse box has the fuse and relay fitted, Still no electric windows. did your van have a full block of electrics in the door check???

Hi I have a mk 7 transit with manual windows I want to upgrade to electric windows, I have bought a full kit to upgrade but the plug coming out of the dash has 4 wires missing compared to the full set on the kit I have bought so it's not a matter of plug and play can someone please explain how I can do this the easiest way possible? Thank you
