Postby Cookie2109 » Fri Jan 10, 2014 5:08 pm

Hi all,
Going to put a rover V8 with an auto gearbox in my swb 51 plate, I know its been done a few times before by various people, but any info or tips and advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sure about the autobox? Is it going to be for show or are you using it as a working van? With any real load on it it may get a bit hot....

I've just picked up a conversion plate from Dieselhead that connects the Rover V8 to a Transit gearbox... Having already converted my crewcab Tranny recovery truck to V8 using a Rover P6 gearbox there are huge advantages for keeping the tranny box... same prop, speedo drive, gearbox mounts, gear lever in the right place and same clutch/cable/mechanism. My last prop needed a new joint and length to suit the Rover box and came in at around 300 quid after balancing....

So looking forward to connecting up the Rover to the MT75, possibly start this weekend if the weather is good.
