induction kit/air filter/bluefin

Postby stuartrobbie » Sun Apr 22, 2007 10:58 pm

i have done about enough cosmetically to my van as i would like to do just now, plus the missus is moaning!

its a 2.0 TD SWB Low Roof Mk6

i have the bars and spotlights beacons etc (no alloys cause cant find any yet  )

but im into looking at pumping it up a bit, giving it a bit more beef/

can anyone tell me what would give me a bit more oomph, accelleration etc without going to mental on MPG?

ive heard about induction kits and stuff but dont know what they do so not sure what to get etc.

also, im wanting it to sound a bit better than it does, would that be a new box for my exhaust i would need? want it purring :P

ive been on ebay and all they seem to have is for focuses and kas and stuff, and for petrol engines

what exaclty does it do, tweak the computer to allow more fuel into engine or something?

Bluefin

Postby Terry » Mon Apr 23, 2007 7:42 am

I got a Bluefin for my Tranny (2.4 DI) and it covers all these models

Fiesta/Fusion 1.8tdi
Focus 1.8tdi/1.8/2.0tdci
Focus RS 2.0Turbo
Mondeo 1.8tdi/2.0tdi/2.0/2.2tdci
Transit2.0di/2.4di/2.0tdci
Connect 1.8td/1.8tdci

Model is BF-05-FORD-T.
They say it replaces the original settings & holds them in the device
(so you can only 'do' one vehicle), but can replace the original settings.

Glad I read this post I was just wondering weather you could do more than one van at a time, guess that would be too easy.
Have any of you heard of raidHP I was searching ebay for bluefin and found them?

the bluefin unit will only do 1 ecu that it is pogramed for :? to reset this you have to return the unit to superchips and with a big fee they will repogram it back to factory stting for your next vehicle

Bluefin

Postby Terry » Mon Apr 23, 2007 7:47 pm

Difficult to say.
They claim 20more hp, 30% more torque & better fuel consumption.
On installation, mid range acceleration was MUCH better, low down pull was MUCH stronger, after initial cane-ing period fuel consumption appeared slightly improved. (very difficult to quantify, as I do a lot of towing so not really a fair test)
I have for about the last month had an erratic misfire so the Bluefin appears inoperative (but again not a fair comparison).
Worth the money ?, again a difficult one. Initially I was well pleased but with the performance drop over the last month doesn't seem VFM, but again an unfair comment . May be just the 'new toy' syndrome.

try this mate...........

Postby nitroman » Mon Apr 23, 2007 11:03 pm

125ps chipped with nitros etc etc lots a dosh but you could do what ive done which is ditch the exhaust and get powerflow to make you a custom stainless side exit jobbie and de cat it at the same time that sounded good(like a scooby)then i(well my mate carl)removed the old air box and cut out a neat section where the air flow meter is and bolted on a shiny cone filter(now sounds even better and defo added more power)so i still got the airflow meter workin but no airbox!
nitros £700
chip £400
exhaust £150
de cat £50
cone filter £40
sounds great now!

posted video of sound on you tube with all mods done if you can find it??
