HELP !!! INDUCTION MODS

Postby Valsheda » Sun Aug 21, 2005 1:44 pm

HIYA ALL , I WOULD LIKE TO FIT EITHER A K&N PIPERCROSS ETC ...
BUT OF COARSE THEIR CATALOGUES DO NOT LIST MY ENGINE , BUT THERE MUST BE A WAY AROUND THIS :?

THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT I AM REALLY NOT SURE HOW TO GO ABOUT IT , DUE TO WHAT APPEARS TO BE A COMPLEX AIR INTAKE SYSTEM , THE AIR SEEMS TO BE DRAWN IN THROUGHT A SIDE VENT IN THE WING , THE AIR FLOW SENSOR IS ON THE PIPE ABOVE THE FILTER BOX , ON THE OPPOSIT SIDE THERE IS ANOTHER SENSOR WHICH STICKS OUT OF THE PIPE NEXT TO WHERE THE THROTTLE CABLE LINKAGE SITUATED , ALSO I HAVE AIRCONDITIONING WILL THIS BE INCORPERATED SOMEWHERE ALONG THE AIRFLOW ,

HERE ARE SOME PICS OF THE ENGINE BAY IF THIS HELPS , IF YOU REQUIRE ANYMORE LET ME KNOW AND I WILL PUT THEM UP ,

MANY THANX GUYS AND GIRLS

I've asked on the sierra owners site and they reckon it may be a 2.0 16V jobbie and a bit rare, only used for a short while you may have to get a cone filter, they are universal just order one the same size as the piping :D

no-one was 100% sure
just messure the piping sive and order a universal cone filter to fit that size pipe, that will do away with the air box though, if you want a pannel filter to fit in the airbox messure the size and then try here
http://www.filtrauto.com/catalogues/FO/ ... ltre=A1089
and you can see your filter is the same as quite a few other transit aplications, once you have the size trawl through here
http://knfilters.com/ till you find one close enough to fit :)

keep the air flow sensor the enigne will not run without it.put a cone filter where the airbox is fix the cone filter to air flow sensor and fix to the chassis with some metal brackets.it will sound very nice with a cone filter and your new exhaust..what is next to be modified on your van?? :D

dont buy a cheap market cone filter but best you can get cheap ones dont last.also cheap ones dont flow the air through them as well.lowering a transit is easy buy lowering springs for the front if you have coil springs or decambered leaf springs.for the back all transits will need decambered leaf springs.lowering blocks work but not a good idea on a commercial(insurance companys dont generally like them)for decambered springs look in any modifyed van mags or yellow pages for one near you.

I AGREE WITH YOU THERE MATE , WILL DEFINATLY GO FOR A KN OR PIPER X CONE , I MADE THE MISTAKE OF BUYING A CHEEP ONE FOR A CAR I HAD QUITE A WHILE AGO , AS FAR AS THE LOWERING GOES I AM NOT TO SURE ABOUT THAT NOW , I MIGHT BUY ANOTHER FRONT BUMPER AND TRY TO MAKE IT DEEPER BY ADDING MORE TO THE BOTTOM OF IT TO GIVE IT MORE DEPTH , THAT WILL GIVE ME SOMETHING TO DO IN THE WINTER MONTHS :D
