Modifying the MK6 drivers side door arm rest.

Postby woodyandbuzz » Tue Jan 27, 2015 10:06 pm

Has anyone modified the drivers side armrest? Is there any easy way of making it slightly higher? I'm finding that to rest my elbow on the standard rest I'm having to lean slightly to the right causing my spine to twist slightly and cause no end of pain over long distances  I could shape a bit of plywood or plastic to fit but I would like it to look neat.

Here's how I did it :!: :D

Well as there didn't seem to be an easy option  I thought I would have a go and see what I could do

Got to hand it to you Woodyandbuzz, this thread did not turn out how I expected it to!
Looks really good for "a bit of expanding foam" - nicely done. You use a knife to cut to shape or made a cardboard mould?
Completed the Mongolia Charity Rally 2015 with a beautiful Mk6 LWB high roof Transit.
We loved it so much, we have just purchased a Mk7 LWB high roof Transit to do some staycationing!

Aye I'm pleased and surprised at the difference it has made :D could have just stuck a bit of wood on to the arm but I wanted it to look decent. No more twisted spine on long journeys now :D and as the missus says "that extra half inch does make a difference"
