best petrol engine for tranny, fuel+power, lpg kit available

Postby B.OG.COM » Sun Jun 03, 2007 10:34 pm

what is the best choice petrol engine to swap to my 2.5di tranny minibus. i have an lpg kit fitted to a van i'm breaking on a 2 litre ford engine but it is a bit under powered. have all the petrol running gear. is a 5 speed box but not mt75 but i also have 1 available. are there any good swaps that people have done? mpg & power are important as thinking of touring europe (over the alps) it is a diesel atm but a bit sluggish but does 25 mpg roughly. thanks for any help

like the idea of using the lpg kit i have. (trouble getting rid of on ebay) but mpg is important. diesels seem to be too much for newer type engines

took my minibus over to france when i swopped in the 2.9 v6 and got 22mpg its been on a rolling road since to rejet the weber that i fitted to get round the injection problems and had a proper s/steel exhaust made and its marginally better but drives a lot nicer with lpg it will effectivley double and would fit the weber a lot easier i'm thinking of doing it myself :)
you break it i take it
