Rev Counter and Escort Clocks

Postby stuntmaster » Sun Jun 10, 2007 11:31 pm

after reading on here about those mondeo clocks, brought me to the rev counter thing.

If lets say i have the 3 pin alternator, how easy would it be to add a rev counter? i would like to use the one you can fit in a 52mm guage or use a bigger one, but only after verifying i have an appropiate alternator, mine could well be different seeing as the van was bought used and was ex-london transport use. (dual batteries fitted, orange flashers on rear, tailgate door fitted), could well lead to a different alterantor for the dual batteries (doubt it but theres a chance)

also if you can mod mondeo clocks into transits ok what about escort clocks?

from mk5-mk7? would they work?

heres an example:

it has the neat little car diagram on the left not seen that in the dash before.

The reason Mondeo clocks fit is because they are the same as Transit clocks. Escort clocks are totally different.

Most the 52mm rev counters are for petrols and are much easier to fit. See if you can find one that runs off the alternator you might get it to work.

Hmmm in that case...... only thing i can really do is the mondeo clocks then.

how easy is it to fit one in a mk5? as in cosmetically i know the wiring is ok and i can run a wire from pin8 to the alternator if needed.

im looking at ebay and have found white dials for a mondeo 1993-2000, it says it simply slots over the original dials. ive read on here that mk5 and mk6s both can use mondeo clocks, does that mean the same clocks or would a mk5 need a mk5 mondeos clock, and a mk6 need a mk6 mondeos clock?

You also need to check if they are cable or electric.

I have two sets of Modeo diesel clocks that are not needed.
£15 each plus post.
