Rwd axle flip

Postby Shane.rothwell » Fri Oct 05, 2018 11:05 pm

Hi I’m new to the forum, I have a mk6 mwb rwd minibus which has pretty high spec springs ya the looks of it, I know I could get springs decambered but I don’t think I’ll be satisfied and flipping the axle gives more room for adjustment. I’m looking to get it pretty low, I’ve spent the last couple of days searching the internet and can’t find any threads of people flipping rwd transits, and I want to get a rough idea of what I’m getting myself into before I jump straight in, main concern is having to notch the chassis.
Thanks for any advice.

Didn’t Necessarily mean flip meant more “spring over axle”
Sorry

Looking into it I’m thinking of just going decambered springs route

Couple of guys on here did that, dropped a fair bit I think. :D

Some have done more drastic things, fronts are lowered uprated springs, rear de cambered and sometimes other little mods, I think slight adjustment to shackles etc. Saw 1 where they'd actually cut into the chassis /wheel arch.

My opinion though is anything like that is going to be uncomfortable.

Form over function so to speak.

If you want it sitting down I think the fwd is better for that :D

Rwd is a working setup see so if you make it unusable then it is pointless being what it is.

Yh thinking about it I don’t want to ruin the drive. So think I’ll just lower it slightly but being a ex mini bus with next to nothing in it, it looks pretty high
