S&M or M+S tires

Postby BelfastVan » Wed Oct 26, 2022 2:53 pm

Not sure if here or in the campervan conversion topic
I would like to increase the grip in my RWD MK7 transit and not imediately break the bank
90% of the time i am on normal roads
10% I might be rather steep and gravelly (Down is not the issue, up is ;)

IF only changing the tire width ...can i replace the 2 back first before i replace the 2 front ( Well in that case move the back to the front and put the newest tires back)

I have the Michelin Agilis Cross Climate on my Custom front and rear - they are M&S rated, but stay on all the time - I've covered nearly 60k miles and the fronts are getting ready to be replaced, but the rears are almost like new (FWD).
They look good - not quite as chunky as A/T tyres - but they aren't cheap

Changing the tyre width on one axle will probably upset the abs as it will affect the rolling radius.
