Winch

Postby Guy88 » Mon Dec 03, 2007 12:44 am

I am thinking of mounting a winch on the rear of my MK5 SWB.

Where would be the best place to mount it to. I got a tovbar so could adapt that

It will be a 4 tonner

The winch on the County mounts in between the towing bracket side arms. Originally would have been two parts I think, but the tow bracket and winch frame have been welded together to form one (fookin heavy!) unit.

If it's any help I can take some pics and some measurements to give you an idea of whether you'd have the room to get it under yours?

Cheers mate,

Andy

Took a few pics and got the tape out!

The "arms" of the towing bracket that can be seen in the first pic are 740mm apart.

The holes for the mounting bolts are approx. 905mm between centres

From the top surface of the mounting plates to the lowest part of the winch is 360mm

The winch frame is mounted between the two sides of the towing bracket, but uses the same four mounting holes in the chassis. The supports for the rear top steps are welded to the winch side frames. The plate on the left in the second pic is the mounting for the isolator and the remote plug.

Dunno if this will be any help - but if you need any more pics or measurements I'll be happy to oblige.

Cheers for now,

Andy
