Forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong spot or if this is a question that been asked and I haven't managed to find the answer for...
We bought a 2021 Transit 350 148" WB passenger van that is going to have multiple purposes for all of our different hobbies. We've pulled out the 3rd and 4th row seating and have the 2nd and 1st row passenger seats and then the driver's and front passenger seats. This is the seating configuration that works for most of the scenarios where we'll be transporting people and gear.
There are times when we'll want to be able to sleep in the van when it's just the two of us and we're looking for a bed platform of some kind that we can easily install, use, and remove/store for the next adventure.
The bed platforms that my husband has seen range from a REI "trailgate" sleeping platform, an "air deck" from Backcountry.com, and all the way up to the Hideaway SL from Pacific Adventure Works or Nokhu Racks.
I've tried to do my research but I'm new to the van life (as limited as ours will be) and quickly get overwhelmed with all of the different options and talk about storage and transverse sleeping and kitchens and bathrooms. We're not looking to live in the van, just needing an option to set up quickly for when we're too tired to drive and are miles away from home or want to do some car (van) camping over the weekend.
Most of the time, we'll be hauling music gear or my art around so we can't do anything that's too much of a pain to install/remove/store.
Anyone have thoughts, suggestions, or horror stories?
