AUX IN [Help]

Postby KiloKilo » Tue Jan 15, 2008 6:15 pm

Trying to fit an AUX IN in my Mk7.
Installed an old 6000CD unit from Jan 2004 as a temporary radio and decided to fit the aux in as found in the Fiesta / Fusion models.
Was pointed to the fact that the space for a 12V socket at the passenger side would be a great place for it.

So I took out the dummy plastic disk. The way it is kept in place is by two plastic clips. Unfortunately these clips are a bit big.
Image
So if I drill a hole for the AUX IN the whole construction of the clips will go. So then the question; How do I make the newly constructed piece stay in the socket?

Not quite. With the Fiesta / Fusion the idea is to drill a hole in the dash near the cup holder. I could drill a hole anywhere. But it is saver to use the dummy plastic cap instead on drilling a hole in the dash. Replacing the dummy will be cheaper then the dash.

I say it looks different because the Transit one just replaces the blank.

..... I am beginning to get frustrated with the dealer again. They couldn't find an AUX IN for the Transit. So that's why I took the Fiesta / Fusion one....

Anybody got the partnumber for the Transit one?

Just back from Ford. They had found an AUX IN for the Transit. I went today to pick it up. Turned out to be the exact same as the Fusion / Fiesta one just in a lighter grey colour. Talked to them about a possible solution. We had a look thru the Ford Parts system and nothing really came up. Even the AUX IN which they ordered was mentioned in the system as being a Heater Control Switch..... :?
I know that there was a mention of standard fitting AUX IN into the Mk7 from October 2007. Anybody any idea where they fit the AUX IN?

Again any photo or partnumber is welcome.

I just carefully drilled a hole in the blanking plug till the aux plug would fit then super glued the whole lot in position.

In the Transits being made now they are fitting it in the passenger glovebox where the cigerette lighter would go

He says that in the top post, but what he's saying is it's not the correct size for the hole!

If you happen to have a photo of it or the part number so I can show to the local Ford dealer I would very grateful.
