found this info on the mg rover forums

Anyways, what has been said is correct (as usual, good quality gen on this board!). You can use an LT77, ex SD1, or a new 2wd R380. Heck, you can even use a 4x4 one if you convert it to 2wd, but it's hardly worth it...

Bellhousing is 2000 SD1, LDV400 2.0, or Sherpa 2.0 diesel. The Disco bellhousing is meant to mate up to a big clutch housing on the back of the engine, and is a different shape (I have a bellhousing I bought here when I was doing my first RWD conversion )

As for the Ford Type 9, well, there is *supposedly* a bellhousing available
2007 T300 110 GLX MWB low roof with Twin side doors & blue ambition paint.

1994 2.0 EFI 80 SWB cosworth 24v work in very slow progress. Radiant Pink.

is there  ive got one in my mk1 escort i made the bellhousing from a type9 xr4 back half and a rover front half - welded together :D
also there is 'supposed' to be an adapterplate for an mt75 but i couldnt get hold of one - and measuring it up i cant see how it would have worked :|

good engine tho - shifts in the rover and used to be for peanuts :D

Get a sheet of card dave, then paint the maunting face of the original gearbox bellhousing and press the card against it while wet, then cut out the shape and take it to the scrappy with you and try it against different gearboxes

If you are looking for an auto I would think the old Rover favourite- BW boxes would be close, unless you can find a Jap RWD box :?
