One for Luke / dangerouus to help with!!!

Postby doughythevanman » Wed Feb 13, 2008 9:24 pm

It's that time again when my better judgement takes over and our kid turns up with crazy ideas. He has just bought a Toyota Supra 3.01 twin turbo for £100 ( scrapper really ) but the engines mint in it. Could this fit in my project and what would be the implications? I didnt really want to go down the power route but a lump like this is hard to turn down!

its a strait 6 innit :?:

obviously ive never done it but main thing to measure is the width as you cant really do anything about it - unless you put it in the back  - but i'd expect the bulkhead will need modding :!: but on the plus side theres nothing behind it

personally i'd snap it up before it goes :!: - then have a measure - really only things like the stearing column and brake pedals pose a problem - the rest is easy to get round - things like the clutch cable can be re-routed etc.

it would be a major project - depends how much you want to take on :?:

I assume so mate, he's gone home to get it!, he only bought it to put in the van so it wont be goin anywhere soon!. I would like the speed to match the looks and he promised me he would start helping out now  . I will have a measure and let you know what goes on!

Cheers, Marc.

i'd be 95% sure it will fit - the stick will be far back, measure that too - just to find out where it lands - you might need to crank the lever forward so you can reach it

do you think you'll get this fitted before May be cool to see it go down the strip  8)

yes!! :D :D me missus bought the card for me so hopefull will have chance to get to the garage and take some pics of it so far. The bumpers are done and the skirts fitted. Just doin the body now for the respray. I welded the rear doors up totally and fitted large window. 8) and in the middle of interior so it's all going well up to now. It's just giving me a headache with the lambo doors but nicki reckons he got it all lined up so hopefully they will be done soon.!! :D :D

hi m8
im with luke on this one awsome engine i would of liked to have done that one..i aint seen under the bonnet of a twin turbo supra for few years but what i recall i think the width will be more of a problem than the lenght wont it??? im sure they were quite a wide engine werent they...

just had a look at 1 i cant see why it shouldnt go in it will need bulkhead modding though

keep us updated m8
