Stretched Limo Transit

Postby cmeonthemove » Sat Mar 15, 2008 9:55 pm

Just been watching an old series of Top Gear on tape and saw the episode where they made stretched limos. Got me thinking, has anyone ever done a stretched limo with a Transit? I mean how hard can it be?

Has anyone ever seen one :?:

Or could I pioneer this idea?

1 way would be to get 2 long cubes cut 1 off behind small panel and 2nd in front of side loading door, slide some box section into chassis rails and weld it back together, another idea i thought of was a 8 wheeler mk2 tipper with twin steer and twin drive. with the long bonnet would get 1 monster engine in.

There was a stretched Mk1 Transit at Stamford Hill in London.

The owner also had a Transit Trailer!

The van was built from 3 Transits...

It also had a VW LT roof and an NSU RO80 front grafted on.

Oh...and a mid-mounted V8 engine...

It looked like a Semi-high roof Mk3 Ex-LWB......But............

This was in 1980

The Builder...Pete now lives in Edmonton!
