Wiring up my new amp...

Postby MTBjamie » Thu Mar 19, 2009 6:31 pm

Im coming to the end of my camper / race van conversion (will post up some pics when im finished!) and am installing my sound system. Ive got a leisure battery wired up in the back and am putting my amp pretty close, so what im wondering is can i connect the negative from the amp directly to the negative battery terminal? I have already done this with my 300W invertor which works fine... :?

Pics are coming! I'll make a new topic in progress reports asap. Just making a panel to house my 6x9"s now, should all be wired up by the end of the weekend with DVD screens..... :D

Im sure you haven't forgot to put a big fuse on the live wire, but its got to be worth mentioning. Most people know how dangerous it is without one. I had to give my mate a good talking to, he had the wire running through the bulkhead with no grommet around it, wearing through the insulation and no fuse whatsoever!!! aaaaaaaaargh! crazy crazy people!!!

All my lives are insulated in plastic conduit with in line fuses between batteries and relay etc... My amplifier live has a 30A in line fuse with the negative just connected directly to the battery. Works a treat, just need to install my last DVD screen and I'm done! pics to come... Cheers for your help people :D
