One off modding...

Postby young and crazy » Wed Jun 17, 2009 2:34 pm

Ok first of all, hi :) My names kevin and im 17, bought a 05 Transit 260 85, clean wee van to be honest... I'm a motocross maniac and will be using the van as my first car and my main runabout...

So im modding it to suit.

I've seen a transit local to me with Focus ST alloys on it, So im guessing these fit ? if anybody can shed some light...

Im also looking at putting hydraulics on it, so its a low height when driving yet will not have a problem when going into tracks as i can raise it...

Got a good panel beater friend so i'll be getting him to do the body kit ect ect... Was thinking about a Scooby STI bodykit with custom front nudge bar...

Another thing im looking at is chipping it, that will be the first thing i do, seen this on ebay, was wondering if it would work..http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0420569523

I have done some coach building ect so will be able to do ssome minor mod's myself...

When fitting the bodykit i plan to make it wide arch, what do i need to do to extend the wheels out ?

This project should be finished by winter (HOPEFULLY  )

Cheers for any tips guys :D

Kev

Welcome,

Focus alloys won't fit as the PCD is different, you would need to get the alloys redrilled so that it would fit the hub. Don't bother getting it "chipped" as its a load of crap, instead speak to martyn 'vantuner' on the forum and ask about remaps which are much better that chips.

Looking forward to seeing it with the bodykit on.

Love your ideas, you need to have a look at Catdaddy's van for some serious hydraulics, although his gone down...way down

Well that head unit looks fantastic value, its got just about everything posible on it for only a couple of hundred, like wow, most units i've seen that have that much functionality are in the 1k range, I think I might buy one myself.

radio won't fit as it is 2DIN would only fit in the mk7, the mk6 is DIN and a half

The alloys costed me about £1100 with conti tyres but they no longer sell them with tyres or nuts/locking nuts so it could cost ya more. As for the fitting they might just go on but then again they might not as I found out with mine. They now come with spacers which are too thick so when you put them on the hub the nuts cant screw in. So you will have to take the spacers to a machinists and get them cut
