doubt it, looks like a clean exhaust to me, more likely to fail on the Db count, needs a big silencer

Can you imagine that thing on the drag strip?!!
Fookin eck; I mean, a Gloster Meteor jet engine, maybe 15,000hp.....makes the V6 look pretty weedy! :lol: :mrgreen:

Funny you should say that mototech... I was with a load of veteran car nuts a couple of weeks ago and talk turned to spitfire engines in cars...

2 problems.... no tyres would stay on the rims, if you were very lucky and they did then the clutch only lasted about 20miles (this was late 50s early 60s though)

There was a car made in the 1960's ( IIRC! ) which had a Rolls Royce Merlin engine in it, but I can't remember any details about it now, and google wasn't helpful :?

I do remember the guy who built it was in trouble with RR for using their grille on his home made car, and I vaguely remember that it caught fire on a demo in Sweden. So it has been done but what tyres he used ........ who knows?
