A pic would be handy, but if the top of them is a solid plate (rather than a framework), just cut off the legs and bolt or weld them to the top of the swivel.

What about putting the seat on the base and the base on the runners?

Without seeing it. it's difficult to tell, but I am guessing that your original seat is bolted to the seat runner (the Mk2 is). There must be some way of doing the same with the seat runner.

swivel base seats

Postby BigMac » Mon Mar 27, 2006 7:18 pm

hi i have six swivel seats in my van , what you need to do is fix the runners to the base then fix the seat to the runner. what you will find is that the seat runner is wider than the base so first before you take the runner off the seat you need to measure the width of the runners then eather use 3/4 plywood or steel to make the base wider for the runners to sit on . once the base is done then you can fitt the the seat . its not to hard . some of the van shop bases do fitt the holes in the floor but you will need some big nuts and boltsplus washers

HI MATE , IT IS A TRANSIT SEAT THAT I AM BUYING FROM BORTAF, IT IS A NEW GENERATION SEAT , I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS, THIS ONE WILL HOPEFULLY BE THE DRIVERS SEAT. I HAVE ALSO BOUGHT ANOTHER TRANSIT SEAT FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE, WHICH I UNDERSTAND IS FROM A 1999 TRANSIT.

THANKS FOR EVERYBODYS HELP AND ADVICE REGARDING FITTING TRANSIT SEATS ON TO SWIVEL BASES. WE HAVE NOW DECIDED TO BUY THE RIGHT SEATS TO FIT ON THESE BASES, AT MUCH GREATER EXPENCE UNFORTUNATELY. BUT WE WERE A BIT WORRIED ABOUT HAVING TO HAVE THEM CUT ABOUT AND BITS WELDED ON . SO IT'S BACK TO THE VAN SHOP FOR THE SEATS, UNLESS ANYBODY KNOWS ANYWHERE ELSE THAT SELLS CAPTAINS SEATS. THANKS AGAIN.

Got the ones in the sleeper done by the van shop, he's a good ole boy.
As a side note once the swivle is on you could just lower the seat using the origional hight adjuster?
