MY SWIVEL SEAT BASES ARRIVED TODAY, FROM THE VAN SHOP. THEY ARE THE UNIVERSAL ONES, THE PROBLEM IS THEY ARE 7INCHES HIGH, HOW WILL I FIT MY SEATS ON TO THESE, WILL THE SEAT BASES HAVE TO BE CUT DOWN, OTHERWISE THEY WILL BE TO HIGH, ANY IDEAS, THANKS
A pic would be handy, but if the top of them is a solid plate (rather than a framework), just cut off the legs and bolt or weld them to the top of the swivel.
HI FRED, I THOUGHT ABOUT THAT FOR THE PASSENGER ONE, BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW THE DRIVERS ONE WILL WORK, AS I STILL WANT THE RUNNERS, SO THAT THE SEAT GOES BACKWARDS AND FORWARDS, CAN'T DO PICS AS DAUGHTER HAS NOT BROUGHT CAMERA BACK YET THANKS FRED
YES GOOD POINT FRED,HOW WOULD THE BASE FIT ON THE RUNNERS, SORRY IF THAT SOUNDS STUPID BUT I HAVE NOT GOT A CLUE HOW THESE WILL FIT, WHEN I SAW HOW HIGH THEY WERE I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO HAVE A SUN ROOF FITTED THANKS FRED
Without seeing it. it's difficult to tell, but I am guessing that your original seat is bolted to the seat runner (the Mk2 is). There must be some way of doing the same with the seat runner.
I WILL HAVE TO ASK BORTAF ABOUT THAT ONE AS I AM BUYING THE SEAT FROM HIM, HOPEFULLY THAT WILL WORK FRED. THE SEAT IS A NEW GENERATION SEAT WHAT EVER MK THAT IS I DON'T KNOW. BUT THANKS FOR THE ADVICE FRED
THANKS MATE I WAS GOING TO SEND YOU A PM , BUT YOU GOT THERE BEFORE ME. I AM JUST CURIOUS AS TO HOW I AM GOING TO FIT THE SEAT TO THE SWIVEL BASE, THE SWIVEL BASE IS 7ins HIGH, AS I SAID TO FRED I THOUGHT THE SEAT WENT STRAIGHT ON TO THESE BASES, I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO HAVE A SUNROOF. THANKS .
hi i have six swivel seats in my van , what you need to do is fix the runners to the base then fix the seat to the runner. what you will find is that the seat runner is wider than the base so first before you take the runner off the seat you need to measure the width of the runners then eather use 3/4 plywood or steel to make the base wider for the runners to sit on . once the base is done then you can fitt the the seat . its not to hard . some of the van shop bases do fitt the holes in the floor but you will need some big nuts and boltsplus washers
HI BIG MAC, THANKS FOR ADVICE, ONCE THE SEAT IS FITTED ON TO THE BASE HOW HIGH ARE YOUR SEATS, ONLY MY SEAT HEIGHT AT THE MOMENT IS 16 1/2ins HIGH WITH THE SWIVEL BASE THAT WOULD MAKE IT 23 1/2 insHIGH HOW DO I REDUCE THE HEIGHT BACK TO NORMAL SEAT HEIGHT THANKS
HI MATE , IT IS A TRANSIT SEAT THAT I AM BUYING FROM BORTAF, IT IS A NEW GENERATION SEAT , I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS, THIS ONE WILL HOPEFULLY BE THE DRIVERS SEAT. I HAVE ALSO BOUGHT ANOTHER TRANSIT SEAT FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE, WHICH I UNDERSTAND IS FROM A 1999 TRANSIT.
THANKS FOR EVERYBODYS HELP AND ADVICE REGARDING FITTING TRANSIT SEATS ON TO SWIVEL BASES. WE HAVE NOW DECIDED TO BUY THE RIGHT SEATS TO FIT ON THESE BASES, AT MUCH GREATER EXPENCE UNFORTUNATELY. BUT WE WERE A BIT WORRIED ABOUT HAVING TO HAVE THEM CUT ABOUT AND BITS WELDED ON . SO IT'S BACK TO THE VAN SHOP FOR THE SEATS, UNLESS ANYBODY KNOWS ANYWHERE ELSE THAT SELLS CAPTAINS SEATS. THANKS AGAIN.
Got the ones in the sleeper done by the van shop, he's a good ole boy.
As a side note once the swivle is on you could just lower the seat using the origional hight adjuster?
