ice question?

Postby glenandemm » Wed Aug 12, 2009 2:01 pm

hi guys ive bought an flip down screen that doesnt have built in speakers or a dvd player, now im gonna connect up to my ps3 but i want to play in through my speakers on my mk6, whats the best way of going about this, ive changed the original ford head unit in my bus for a pioneer unit but not checked it to see if its got aux on it.
any ideas guys?

if you haven't got an aux input you could try an fm modulator, basically transmits the signal
from the screen on a pre selected fm frequency and you just tune the radio in to it.
servicing from £75, pm me.

think im gonna buy a single din dvd player then i can patch the screen into that and have the sound come out of that through the speakers and if i get a headunit with the three rca on the front of it i can simply plug my ps3 straight into it and get a power inverter for the ps3 so i can play on it while im sat bored at alton towers all day!
anyone got a recommendation for a cheap half decent dvd player?

the PS3 can have different configurable options one way is to get the triple RCA plug. then convert the red and white into a 3.5mm headphone jack plug. you can then plug the 3.5mm plug into the aux in if you have one. if its Ipod ready then it may have one on the back or front for it.
this then allows you the option of plugging the yellow straight into the screen. should do the trick.

nice one mate, didnt even think about doing that and ive just bought myself one of those double din eonon headunits with dvd player and all the rest of the stuff, ive heard theyre not great but do the job and i only paid £70 for it,so hopefully should be getting it today then i can fit it later once ive ground the dash out  to make it fit.
i went for an eonon one as ive already got an eonon 17 inch roof mount moniter thats suprisingly well built for a jap item, then i'll have a screen in the dash and a big screen in the back for my customers and when ive put a power converter in to the battery i'll be able to plug the ps3 in and play in the back with the bluetooth joypads or whatever theyre called these days :!: ,i remeber when we used to call them joysticks

yes they are bluetooth joypads, two names:

sixaxis - Without Rumble
dualshock 3 - With Rumble

Advice to get the sixaxis, it lasts longer in power and less recharging times.

also the PS2 console actually does run on 12volts and there are power supply conversions to make it run directly. if you wanted another console to add in.

don't forget the PS3 can watch tv as well now if you get Play TV so If you got one of thel car arial looking ariels for tV then you could mount one of those to the roof and can then record and watch live TV on the PS3 too. another media option.

if you need any more ideas I got plenty. i live and breathe computers, got nearly every console bar the 360, Turbografx and a NEO Geo. but I got the rest.

I'm in the process of planning to do something similar but with 100w inverter, & i've decided to get one of these usb tv/freeview dongles
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prod ... USBTV.html

At this price you can't grumble, & also handy for the laptop so as long as you get a half decent ariel signal which i believe is half the battle

Apart from that, i guess its a bog standard vehicle type ariel

of course, and since it can do series record, you could let it record a load of shows / movies and build up a library into the box.

Play Tv is what its called and it does a stunning job at watching TV. remember BBC have got live championship football now so you will get live footie on a saturday evening some days.

we just bought an eonon dvd player with the 19inch roof mount screen, the dvd player was sh*t sound quality and was buzzing like f***, e-mailed eonon and might sent it back to them in 'Hong Kong' :?

Went to halfords and seen a ripspeed dvd player @ 129.99 decided to buy it thinking we can take it back if its shite. Tried it, and its excelent, the sound quality is awsome(ish) im a sound enginner so awsome to everyone else. Plays anything from anything almost, had sd card slot, and plays movies and music from my 500GB portable hard drive.

The drop down screen is slightly liney when engine is running but not too bad.

Will post pics once theyve uploaded.

hi mate i fitted my roof mount screen from eonon last week and also i got an eonon double din headunit with 7 inch touchscreen that plays dvd's as well as loads of other stuff.i agree about the sound quality,i can only adjust bass and treble whereas my pioneer had loads more sound adjustment before,it doesnt buzz though just not crystal clear sound, but at least i can watch the tv in the dash, and for some reason im getting better radio reception now and also can watch tv channels, was watching motd and xfactor the other night!!!
glad i got a screen only and not one of the built in dvd screens as i had one of those and used to get people paying about in the back with them, now they have to watch what i put on!!
when i upgrade my bus to a 17 seater next year gonna rip all this lot out and get a second screen for the back as well, for now though sounds well with jbl speakers all round and sub in the back.
just gotta get a power converter for my ps3 and i'll be happy

ahh your bus is used for voluntary needs, and our last bus which was under 3.5 ton, could be driven without D1. I need to sit my D1 but cant drive it till am 21 for insurance anyway, and its still a analougue chart tacho. But again as were using it for non commercial, we dont need to use the tacho, or so am lead to belive by direct.gov.uk could be wrong though.

no i use mine for private hire, ive had the coif test done a few years ago and i had to get a tacho fitted last year when they came compulsary but i got an analogue tacho which are easier to fiddle with as you got discs, or so ive heard from other people.
i actually had the vosa man round my house the other day for a routine check, went through everything then checked the bus right over as well, was very impressed with me,not one bad point must be rare that coming from a vosa man :D
the d1 is easy mate just a driving test with a theory just like car test,i didnt do any training and passed it first time, you need d1 for private hire work or for reward i think they call it :!:
do you have an operators licence mate,i got mine last year after being on my parents for yrs, took bloody ages to sort out with vosa, those guys arent in a hurry to do anything :?:
