2.0 DOHC ENGINE IN TRANSIT

IM LOOKING TO REPLACE MY 2.0 PINTO AUTO WITH A DOHC 4 SPD AUTO ANYBODY DONE THIS AND HOW HARD (ELECTRICS AND GEARBOX ,PROP,ELECTRICS) THANKS LADS

try and get the engine loom from a granada they are seperate and easyer to wire up

i wouldn't bother really the dohc are no where near as good as a pinto

there a bit faster but there unreliable and costly to fix

if you want a bit more power i would go for a 2.0i pinto

but its up to you having hada few dohc sierras scorpios granadas etc there not a good engine unless you spend all your money on them all of the time

im a fan of the Dohc - i do agree what you say pinto's will take more abuse but dohc's are reliable if looked after and you get better mpg with a dohc aswell!!

wiring is tricky on either the DOHC inj or the pinto inj - if your not good with wiring, it's fairly strait forward using a granada loom but if you hit a problem then you will be in trouble.

the prop if you use the same gearbox then you should be able to keep the same prob - i'd have thought

what type gearbox is yours?

hi my gearbox is only a 3 spd i was hoping to transplant the 4 speed out off a granada at the same time ? do u no wat the gearbox codes are ie ,is the 3 spd a c3 or worg warner 35 or are they the same ? tar

im not up on the autoboxes - personally hate the things
but....... i do believe the same 4 speed autobox fitted to the granada ADL4 ?? if this is the case a standard transit stick and prop will be available and should be an easy fit!!!

There are 2 types of autobox in the Granada/Scorpio
A4LD and A4LDE which is the later 'electronic' box
hence the 'E'.
I have a Scorpio with the E box, and if you get a good one
they are fine ( not great), if you get a bad one they are a pile of dogs
droppings. They are VERY expensive to repair (which is why there
are so many cheap Scorpios about ) and there are very few
places that actually KNOW what they are doing (as opposed
to being able to read the OBD 2 diagnostic machine), or more often the
STAR reader (mk 1 electronic reader, which is no good on a mk 2 equipped car !)
There is/are so many sensors/ electronic inputs, that make it so complicated.
Personally given the choice I would go for a manual box.

A4LD. A4LDe. and A4LDE.

If you're going automatic you may be better off with the A4LD as this one is not controlled electronically.

It has a vacuum controller on the side instead of an electronic socket.

You will no doubt have to change the prop shaft or have it altered because the C3 box is shorter.

A4LD thats it - was this fitted to the sierra aswell as the granada

that was the one fitted to the transit Rover has just fitted one to his - he had a few probs tho read abouth them in this thread!!!

The DOHC came with carbs on certain models too if its easier, but its fair to say that the granada loom seperates easier than the sierra one. Also the head gasket has a few weak spots so worth costing in, as is the plastic guide between the chain.

im a bit scared off the wiring the gearbox sound like a night mare will the DOHC OR PINTO INJECTION ENGINE fit to my c3 gearbox and will it be ok acc,top end etc ?
