new style cd6006 into a mk6

Postby Brains_transit » Thu Sep 10, 2009 5:33 pm

welcome to sum things up i like the new stereo over the old style so thought i want it and set about cutting  i also got the wiring plug so im going to solder it onto suitable plugs that go straight into the mk6 wiring for ease to fit into any mk6 8) heres the first steps cutting it in so the face ends up flush with the dash and enough left under for the heater controls. the hazard light switch will be relocated wish me luck  if anyones knows a paint that is a close match let me know as i will be fibreglassing and filling the taper round the stereo hole and the old harzard switch hole so its all flush.

that would look cool 8) ,thought i struggled a little bit just taking the lip off so i could fit a double din head unit but thats massive mate, have you checked that it dont interfere with the top of theheaterbox inside the dash :?:
cant wait to see it finished :)

correct i sourced one from the scrappies as its a trial prototype to see if it fits and i didnt want to ruin my mint dash with the row of four or five switches at the bottom. it looks like it will clear the heater stuff but as my m.o.t is out soon im not going to take the old stereo etc out untill after the m.o.t.

sports car breakers at newbridge edinburgh but theres not that many and most are smashed up but if theres something your after let me know and i can say if its there from memory as i went yesterday. the foglights i got from ebay £25 new delivered but i was lucky. they are the same as the escort mk6 ones you just need to extend one bracket to reach the mounting hole thats about 20mm from were it should be.

yeh been there a few times but had one transit wen visited both times.

dont expect to get one at scrappies but a full good condition rear end transit to make a trailer out of.
apart from that nothing really in particular were looking for mostly loads of rubber thingys to fill the holes in the pillars n doors in our minibus. couple extra non-switched interior lights.
