Wide Custom Wheels

Right Men. Does anyone know of wider custom wheels in either steel or alloy, to fit a Mk 5.. 190.. 6 stud.. single wheel hub. or alternatively,
what do you have to do to fit wider wheels? and what size can you go to, before major boby mods are required?

you would have to change the axle... there is nothing avaliable at all for 6 studders.

I'm leaning towards re drilling the halfshafts and brakedrums to accept Range Rover wheels.
Did it years ago to a LWB V8 Bedford van I fitted a Chevy 10 bolt axle to, and redrilled the front hubs to Jag/Chevy 5 bolt.
I reckon Rangey wheels will be strong enough.

Hi Luke. I want to give the heavy duty axles a try. also I'm sure I've seen Shogun type wheels that are 6 stud.

Oh yes... jap 4x4 can be 6 x 139.6 PCD. You may be able to redrill the 6 stud axle, but from memory the bolts holding the half shaft in are too close to that pattern, you would have to come up with a new brake setup and the wheels will stick miles out of the arch...

You are better starting off with a 5 stud axle like I was planning too!

I've bought some Pajero pepperpot split rim wheelsto try. They're 6 stud and am going to design adapters as slim and as safe as possible. nothing wrong with wheels sticking out a little. I am struggling to find van tyres wider than 225x70x15 though, on the positive side I'll have to do something with the rusty arches.

I've always been a fan of 80's Cologne arches, as fitted to rally escort Mk2's and astras. If they don't work theres the black plastic arches I've seen on some newish connects. It all depends what I can get hold of Cheap. .... any one on here with nice arches or advice?

Law says all the wheel has to be inside the body work. It's to do with not shredding unwitting pedestrians as the bounce along the of side of your van. Its political correctness gon mad!
