Automatic Sliding Door

My sister has a citroen mpv, not sure what model C8 maybe. Anyway, it has automatic sliding doors and I thought that would be a really cool mod. Has anyone tried anything like this?

There is a disabled mod for the sliding door, electric motor and chain drive. Hoping to get one myself soon from a member who scraped one last year, so I only know the basic pricaples of how it works... There are microswitches for the open and closed positions, but thats all know of it at the moment.

Well having watched the doors on the train open and close its like a chain mechanism which must catch a switch when open and when closed but then you would have to factor in a stuck mechanism too.

If I remember I will have a closer look at the train door tonight (while trying not to look like a terrorist )

dont forget to take security into account, Andykays van has auto rear doors which work on electric rams which hold the doors tightly shut, but i dont know how it could work on a side door coz mine has to be slammed to shut properly

Thats what I meant to save it squashing people on top of that you could have a lock that goes on when the door is closed

you might find a pneumatic ram would have enough force to close the door slowly and still shut it right if you know what i mean

Now I would like to see that

although I guess you could use some magnetic force a rubber so you don't scratch the body work and just hope the battery don't die while the doors open (or you will have one sore foot)

If you dont mind the SLD not opening as far you could have a 2nd roller on the upper track... I guess you wouldnt then need the track on the side

Captain Hook has got some electric rear doors on his red MK5, unless his sold them!!!

Whilst not a Ford, this system is pretty special, not only does the door open automatically...

The seat automatically comes right out of the vehicle!

I used to repair buses many moons ago, some had air doors while others used electric. Best way to try and explain is a wiper motor controlled by micro-switches. Don't know if that's any use to you but maybe looking for an old bus (small up to about 30 seats). you might find the bits you need.

the current model of kia sedona can have power sliding doors (not on the base model) and a power tailgate (top spec only) and have seen a chrysler voyager with power doors and tailgate
our sedona has the power doors and it is handy having remote operation as you can have a door open waiting for you to fire dog/kids/shopping in as soon as you get to the car
but also has a safety gadget which opens the door if it detects an obstruction when closing
dog/kids/shopping etc
not sure but i believe the drive is done by the centre rail
