Window fitting (side)

Postby johny transit » Sun Apr 18, 2010 12:36 pm

Silly question really as I was instrumental in fitting the sld windows to my last van - but looking at the seals for the set I have ready to go in the new van, I'm not quite sure which part the metal of the van panel sits in. There are three grooves in the seal, am I correct in thinking that the majority of the seal sits outside the van and fits the kind of resess in the outside of the panel, with the inner most part of the seal being the only bit that draws through to the inside? Measuring the size of the hole to cut in the panel, that looks like the only way it would go. Sorry that's as clear as mud but somebody might know what I mean.

your right in thinking what you said i took some out of a mk5 tourneo thing that i was re-spraying last year and the majority of the seal was outside the van. i took them out to seal panels in instead of windows. two man job to put the windows back in but its quite easy with fairy liquid and washing line.
hope this helps!
