MK5 swivel base for drivers chair

After one of these so I can turn the seat around in my bus for stretching out when we're stopped. Any ideas if there's any about, or a base for a different van/chair that I can use? Had a rummage through the forums and Google but nothing stands out.

I'm wanting to do the same thing, many members ive noticed on here use renault espace seats and make there own subframe or fabricate the old one to fit as the espace seats have swivels on the bottom.
The specific Swivels for the mark 5 from retailers are £170!

Thinking about it, what about the handbrake? I'd have to relocate it...

I only did the passenger seat as the steering wheel stops the drivers side turning more than 90 degress... Must be an early espace subframe as the later types are part of the seat

I have used the early espace swivels on both my front seat in my van (there are pics in my progress thread), but need to shorten the base to accomidate the extra height of the swivels. But since I have done mine I have spotted that the peugeot 806 has a better design, with the swivel sunk in the middle so the extra height of the swivel is a lot shallower than the espace ones if that makes sense.

I built the box around the old seat frame and put the swivel on top. The box is storage for tow rope, jump leads etc.. I had to add the box on the top to tilt the seat base slightly to make it more supportive
The swivel is between the arrows, plus a thin bit the that is under the carpet which is bolted up, you can just see a bolt thread sticking up...

Hi mate cant actually remember what spec model it was, as it was partly stripped in my local scrappy when i saw it.

Hi Alex. I've just fitted a pair of swivel bases to my standard captains seats , (both singles) using a pair of American aftermarket bases from a Chevy van.
I cut down the runners , reduced the slide handle , fabricated new base to the swivel, cut the standard seat frame down to use the hight and tilt levers.then welded the seat base to the top of the swivel. re-located seatbelt anchor
bit of paint
job done.
I can turn it through 360 degrees with a little messing .

Sounds like you know what you're doing! How did you get around the handbrake situation? Just put it down when you want to swivel that way? What van do you drive btw?

Hi Alex.
To turn the seat, I lower the seat height and adjust the back of the seat forward, with the armrests down. this allows the seat to pass under the steering wheel. I release the handbrake and turn the seat through 180 degrees. then pull the brake back on and wind the back of the seat to a comfortable position. simples.
the passenger side just rotates freely with nothing to hit.

The van is a LWB SHR fitted with a 2.5TD and twin SLD (with windows) and very much a project under construction. It'll soon have a tailgate rear door , large alloy wheels and a custom grille.
