Do you think a pull out canopy made for fitting on to a house would be ok on a van. Has anybody done this? They look like they would and are loads cheaper to buy than Fiamma style awnings

you can make anything work with a bit of fabrication  i'm not sure if it would work on a low roof due to needing to get something behind it to get some fixings as it would be bolted to a wall but on a semi high roof you could prob but a big bit of timber behind it for strength. Just make sure you get some pics up once its done :D

I suppose you could weld a couple of brackets onto a roof rack or rails and secure it that way on a low roof.

Don't think this is the best idea. Van awnings are specially designed to cope with motorway speeds, can see a house one blowing open on the motorway.

^^^^^^^ Thats a good point but i reckon there would be a way of clipping it in place or covering it but then it becomes alot of work and would it be worth the hastle :?:
